who are we?
Formed in 2016 Dead Man’s Whiskey are a 5-piece hard rock band from London UK. Bringing a powerful blend of classic and modern rock, these boys have wasted no time becoming one of the UK’s hottest up and coming acts, from playing Download Festival 2019, to playing the legendary Kiss Kruise in Miami USA, to hitting #10 in UK Rock and Metal Chart with their second album In The Storm - and all whilst being an unsigned band!
In 2017 the band reached their first major milestone, recording their debut album Under the Gun. Here they worked with renowned producer Romesh Dodangoda, famed for his work with Motorhead, Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet for My Valentine. Since it’s release Under the Gun has received critical acclaim, finishing #39 in Classic Rock Magazine’s Albums of the Year, with debut single This Fight featuring on the magazine’s cover CD and receiving extensive play on Planet Rock Radio.
In 2018 the band embarked on their first UK headline tour, receiving rave reviews and coverage from Planet Rock Radio, flagging the band as their ‘Ones to Watch for 2018’. Biggest of all, the boys secured a slot for Ramblin Man Fair, playing to a packed crowd at The Rising Stage. This was then followed by high profile support slots with Kris Barras and The Von Hertzen Brothers on their UK tours.
In 2019, the band played their biggest headline shows to date, selling out both the Camden Assembly and Camden Underworld in the same year. However, they also secured their biggest festival slot to date, playing the Boardie Takeover at Download Festival and being named one of the ‘Highlights of the Weekend’. This was then followed by the band’s first trip to America, playing the legendary Kiss Kruise IX along with The Darkness, The New Roses and of course KISS.
Despite the pandemic, the band still made big strides in 2020 and 2021. This began with tracks Last Train and War Machine both being included in high profile compilation albums – New Wave of Rock n Roll by Earache Records and NWOCR Vol.1 by Rock People Management - both of which made the Top 10 in the UK Charts.
In 2021 the boys also entered Outhouse Studios to record their new EP with producer John Mitchell, also known for his work with Alter Bridge, Architects, Enter Shikari and Inglorious. ‘Breakout’ - the bands new EP was released on 1 October to rave reviews, with the title track receiving play on BBC Radio 2. In support of their new EP, the boys embarked on a slew of successful shows, starting by opening Stonedead Festival, followed by a 10 date UK tour supporting The Fallen State.
In 2022 the band set their sights on recording their highly anticipated second album. From the get go, the boys stated this record needed to be ‘a game changer’. To achieve this they set up their own Kickstarter Campaign and successfully raised over £9,000 to fund the project. With funding secured, they headed to Backstage Recording Studios, the studio of Judas Priest producer and touring axeman - Andy Sneap. Moreover, to produce and engineer the album, the band secured the services of Chris Clancy and Colin Richardson, famed for their work with Trivium, Machine Head, Slipknot, Bullet for My Valentine, Those Damn Crows and Massive Wagons.
On 31 March 2023 the band released MASQUERADE, the first single off their upcoming album. Masquerade hit #5 in the iTunes Rock Chart, and became the band’s first single to be playlisted by Planet Rock. In support of the single, the band hit the road on a Spring headline tour, with 6 packed shows across the UK, followed by an appearance at the prestigious Steelhouse Festival in Wales.
Soon after, the band announced the release of their upcoming new album IN THE STORM, available for pre order in vinyl, CD digipak and on all major digital platforms. Subsequent to the announcement, 3 further singles were released - ‘Ravens Call’, ‘Island in the Storm’ and ‘Do or Die’ - all of which were very well received by radio and fans alike.
In The Storm was released 29 September 2023, hitting #5 in the iTunes Rock Chart, #10 in The Official UK Rock and Metal Albums Chart, #40 in the Independent UK Album Charts, and all without the backing of a label.
After these major milestones, the band embarked on their biggest ever headline tour, playing 12 packed out shows across the UK. Now in 2024, the band will be hitting road hard again, with a slew of high profile festival slots, and more headline shows to be announced soon! See full listings below.

Media Reviews:
“Dead Man’s Whiskey took to the stage with singer Nico shouting, ‘How the f**k are you Donington?’ The crowd let out a rip-roaring scream to show that rock hard Download spirit. The band unleashed an energetic set chocked full of massive beefy riffs and roaring snarled vocals, that would make last year’s headliner, Ozzy, weep into the wings of a bat in envy.”
Download Festival highlights
“They may turn it up to eleven but Dead Man’s Whiskey are no Spinal Tap. This is a show full of those little quality moments that set bands apart. The guitar interplay is near psychic in its execution and front man Nico Rogers has enough energy to power a small town.
The crowd lap up every note proving that, contrary to what some may say, rock is very much alive and people want it more than ever. Dead Man’s Whiskey are more than happy to give them what they want.”
Gary Trueman - Devolution Magazine
“This is one gutsy London group’s resounding ‘fuck you’ to the uncertainties and struggles of life as a new, growing rock band – with the strident declaration "this will be my year!". Taken from debut album Under The Gun, this stomps forward with steely, pensive verses, weighty guitar grooves and grit-laced, rallying- against-the-world vocals. And some good, dirty swagger.”
Polly Glass – Classic Rock Magazine Track of the Week
“With a series of headline shows lined up over the coming months on the Under The Gun Tour,Dead Man’s Whiskey are primed to take 2018 by the horns and continue their upwards trajectory.”
One’s to watch – Planet Rock Radio
“This 5 piece London based band kick out the jams with not just big riffs but big Brontosaurus heavy riffs backed by a lead vocal that could shatter glass.” – 5 Stars
PlanetMosh
“Such an empowering album. This is monumental Metal as we always want it to be, like we always want it to reach into us and like we always want it to lead us on to the next challenge in life”
Mark Rotherham on In the Storm - Metal Talk
“It is an album that is classic with a decisively new twist and not only is it the best we have heard from Dead Man’s Whiskey it is up there with the best releases of 2023.!”
Ritchie Birnie on In the Storm - Metal Planet Music
